This summer there was a fire on Yarnell hill. That doesn't mean a lot to some people. But Chris' great grandparents lived in Yarnell for a long long time. His great uncle lives there now on the same property. Uncle Richard was evacuated and for a many days wasn't sure if the property was all burned down or not. Thankfully, the property was saved. Unfortunately, it cost a lot of lives. The property owners were all fine but 19 fire fighters, a Hot Shots team, were caught in the changing of the wind and were unable to escape the fire. One of those firefighters was from here, Avra Valley/Marana. He was buried at the cemetery just a mile or so from our house. We were able to support the family by lining the streets of the procession from the air port (where the national guard brought his casket) to the cemetery. It was a sad sight, but we had also never seen so many fire trucks from all over the area come to support and pay tribute to a work family member.

(can you tell it was HOT?!)
