Unlucky day.

About three years ago Chris and I went hiking with some friends in Sedona and then up in Flagstaff. Somewhere throughout the day the entire centerpiece/head of my ring fell off. I have no clue how, where or what happened. I just noticed on our way home it was missing. Thank goodness we still were paying for insurance on it. I had to get a completely new ring.

UNFORTUNATELY...we aren't paying insurance anymore. I let it lapse in the last year or so thinking...ehh...we're good. WELL WE'RE NOT GOOD. Look what happened today! Once again, I have no clue how this happened. I just looked down and saw it was MESSED UP! :(
How sad. Any ideas. I think I might be able to have it built up so it won't fall off, but how long will that last?!?! Do I really want to pay insuance on this thing forever?!?

Every time I look at the picture my heart sinks a little. I'm so sad for you :( I'm sorry.

My advice is to get a new ring! Unless a car lands on your finger, that totally should not happen! My mom had her ring for over 30 years before anything ever went wrong with it (the diamond fell out--but we found it on the floor), and she never takes that thing off. Does everything in it.

That is so sad. But maybe it will cost less to fix than you think.

Ok, I didn't really mean that I would get a new ring (way more expensive than just fixing it). Just making a point that something like that shouldn't happen! So sad.

Kati! I'm so sorry! I agree with previous comments! That shouldn't happen! You could probably have a new setting made and then transfer the center stone. You could look into it. I know a really good jeweler in Tucson - he made my sister-in-laws ring and he works with my parents.

Jeff got my band on e-bay. I bought his on e-bay too and paid $45 for a $400 ring. It is made of tungsten carbide which doesnt scratch or dent. But you cant size it either. And I think they have to cut your finger off if something tramatic happens to your hand and they need to get the ring off. :) But I love not having to worry about my ring
