Happy Valentine's Day

This weekend we swapped babysitting with Cherise and Graham so we had our Valentine's date last night and tonight they get to go out.
We got to go out for dinner (we tried to go to Boston's and it was a 45 min wait, Chile's was 30 min, so we went to IHOP and it was good!) AND a movie (we saw New in Town, apparently not the most popular movie, we were the only one's in the theater at first, then two ladies joined us right before it started), and we even snuck in a 20 minute trip to Kohl's. I didn't think I could make a decision in 20 minutes when it comes to shopping and I said we wouldn't have time, but Chris insisted that we at least try.
Wesly brought my tennis shoes to Chris the other day and showed him the gaping holes and the sole barely hanging on. So we went in and I found a pair I liked, but they didn't have my size. Then Chris brought me a pair and even though they weren't really on sale (I said, then WHY DID YOU BRING THESE TO ME...) I liked them, and he bought them for me anyways.
But I just wanted to say HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY today!
So, after I wrote most of this, we decided to all go in to town to run some errands. We ended up getting Chris more than just chocolates for Valentine's Day, he got some new shoes too! He has been doing his research for a while on a good pair of running shoes (he has been running three times a week for about a month now.) He wore them to run today, and HE LOVES THEM. Usually he takes one or two of the boys in the jogging stroller and makes pretty good time, today he ran with new shoes, and the dog, (no stroller) and he made REALLY REALLY good time! lol, I bet it was ALL about the shoes. ;)

Memories:
Usually for Valentine's we end up going out on a different day and watching kids on the actual day. One of my favorite Valentine's was before we had kids and a family we knew was split up. The Dad was working in northern Nevada (Winnemucca) and the Mom and three kids were stuck in Phoenix with no clue how to get back together. With some thinking and planning, we spent Valentine's weekend pulling a Uhaul trailer with my Dad's van. We took three little boys, and our friend, to be with their Dad/husband . We drove 18 hours one way, to help her move. I am not bragging that we did this, I just remember how FUN it was to see them be together as a family and I have always felt like Valentine's is a great day to look to service and doing things for others (especially your spouse).

I love having a reason to celebrate and of course, EAT CHOCOLATE. I made Penuche today. And then I dipped it in chocolate. It turned out SO GOOD! (THANKS APRILYNNE!!) What is your favorite Valentine Memory? What do you like to do?

PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERISE!
